Toilet paper holders come in what seems to be an endless number of shapes, sizes and uses. Designs and costs range from low – for the least expensive utilitarian wire holder, to high – for the most elaborate and expensive Fabergé egg toilet paper holder.

Which one should you get?  There are a good number of questions that need to be answered before purchasing your toilet paper holders:

Exactly where in the bathroom will it be?

Is there very little space so that it MUST take the least amount of space possible? Then, the recessed toilet paper holder would be the most logical. If there is more space available, but you wish to be as space conscious as possible, perhaps a combination of magazine and toilet paper holder would be better suited. Or, is there plenty of room for you to set any sized toilet paper holder/cabinet combination?

Do you just want a toilet tissue holder next to the toilet that holds one roll of toilet paper at a time? Or, do you want the paper holder to be recessed into the wall?

Do you want a free standing pedestal toilet paper holder that holds one roll, or do you want one with a container attached or vertical bar that will hold extra rolls? Would the container be enclosed?

How easy is the toilet paper dispenser to install?

If all you want is a very simple toilet paper holder attached to the wall, all you would need is just a single 2″X4″ stud to attach the holder with a wood screw. Is there a 2″X4″ stud right where the holder would be? Will you need to take out part of the wall to install a recessed toilet paper holder?

Is one roll of toilet paper at a time enough?

Sometimes it’s most important to have more than one roll of toilet paper available nearby, especially if you have a large family and only one bathroom. Or, if you enjoy having parties at your home with many guests you certainly don’t want to have to be installing new rolls every hour or so.

Some toilet paper dispensers can hold up to six rolls at a times. But, beware of the wicker basket type of toilet paper holders, as they tend to tear the delicate paper when putting them in or taking them out of the basket!

Does the style and design fit your decor?

Would a hand made wrought iron toilet tissue paper stand give your bathroom that wanted rustic look you want? Or would you rather have a whimsical ceramic figurine lighten up the mood? Or would a simple but elegant oil-rubbed bronze do the trick? Or is the standard chrome model all you are looking for?

How much do you want to spend?
